Nothing signifies the arrival of spring in the nation's capital quite like the blooming of the cherry blossom trees and the National Cherry Blossom Festival to celebrate the occasion. Visitors descend upon Washington, DC each year to admire the 3,000-plus trees. The Festival, which runs from March 20 – April 17, 2022, is full of events that feature local businesses and provide a riveting showcase for Japanese culture.
Some of the events featured this year include:
Pedal Porches – city residents decorate their front porches with all things cherry blossom
City in Bloom – DC neighborhoods share the tidal basin spirit with lights and art installations
Art in Bloom – Each of the eight wards in DC will host Giant Cherry Blossom Sculptures
Paws and Pedals – bring your pet to the tidal basin enjoy the blossoms

Also, let’s not forget the happenings in our area of the city. Tenleytown Main Street is bringing spring to life in our community with Tenleytown Blossoms during the National Cherry Blossom Festival, March 20 – April 17. Spot cherry blossoms and spring displays at local businesses throughout Tenleytown, and take part in spring-themed events, including trivia night, a Spring Pop-Up Market, neighborhood tours, crafts for kids, and more! From the looks of the five Yoshino Cherry trees in my American University Park backyard, I think the peak blossom prediction this year is pretty accurate.
