4 Best Thanksgiving Meals in DC

11/21/19

The only thing better than a holiday meal with family is a holiday meal that takes all the cooking and cleaning off your hands.

The only thing better than a holiday meal with family is a holiday meal that takes all the cooking and cleaning off your hands. For a Thanksgiving feast without all the fuss, try any of these four restaurants in the nation’s capital.

Plume at The Jefferson

Nestled inside The Jefferson, one of Washington D.C.’s most iconic pieces of real estate, is Plume, and this Thanksgiving Plume will be serving one of the most unbeatable feasts in town. Designed after Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello gardens, The Jefferson is one of the city’s top rated hotels, and their dining options are equally superb. Plume’s special holiday menu includes traditional dishes like green bean cassoulet and turkey with stuffing, as well as more decadent bites like Burgundy truffle potato vichyssoise and carrot pineapple baked Alaska. This Michelin-star restaurant will not disappoint.

Blue Duck Tavern

From noon to 8 PM, dive into a Michelin Star-worthy rendition of a traditional Thanksgiving meal at Blue Duck Tavern. This restaurant is the pinnacle of Washington D.C. eating—classy,  innovative, and timeless. Their farm fresh, three course Thanksgiving selections include sorghum-brined turkey, candied yams, and vegetable pot pie. Seats are $135 per adult, $55 for children under twelve, and complimentary for children under the age of five. Guests are encouraged to make reservations online to secure a table.

Founding Farmers

If you want a more relaxed Thanksgiving experience, stop by Founding Farmers for a made-to-order Thanksgiving meal to-go. Three of the Founding Farmers locations, including their Potomac Avenue restaurant, will be offering a three course take-home meal for diners who would rather kick up their feet at home without worrying about all the cooking. Founding Farmers’ locations will also be open for dine-in services on Thanksgiving Day.

The Smith

Each of The Smith’s locations across the nation will be dishing up à la carte Thanksgiving feasts you won’t be able to resist, and their two Washington D.C. restaurants are no exception. Their three course meal will let you enjoy a delicious Thanksgiving dinner without the stress of preparing it. With options like Cape Cod oysters, turkey osso buco, and sticky toffee pudding, you’ll want to peruse their online menu before heading to your reservation so that you can dig right in.
